Whether Bruges feels very crowded largely depends on the time of year and the specific hours of the day. Generally, the city experiences what is known as the low season during the months of January, February and November. During this period, there are noticeably fewer tourists, and you can enjoy a much quieter and more relaxed atmosphere.

The perception of crowds in Bruges is mostly influenced by large groups of day tourists, particularly those arriving on cruise ships or in tour buses. These tourists, following umbrella-wielding guides, often visit Bruges for just a few hours, leading to a concentration of people in the city center around the early to mid-afternoon, typically between 3 PM and 4 PM. This time frame tends to be the busiest, as these visitors explore the main sights in a short window before moving on.

Outside of these peak hours, Bruges is known for being a charming and peaceful city. Its medieval streets, canals, and historic architecture can be enjoyed without feeling overwhelmed by crowds. Even during the busier spring and summer months, if you explore early in the morning or later in the evening, you can still find plenty of quiet spots and avoid the main tourist rush.

No, mosquitoes in Belgium are not dangerous for most people. They’re especially present in summer, near water or green areas. But they’re mostly just a nuisance, not a health threat.

Toilets have two flush buttons to save water: one for a half flush (liquids) and one for a full flush (solids). A full flush uses more water — usually around 6 liters, while a light flush uses about 3 liters. This can save thousands of liters of water per year in an average household.

With induction hobs, they only start heating when there’s a suitable pot or pan placed on the cooking zone. If there’s nothing on it, or if the cookware isn’t compatible, the hob won’t activate. All the provided pots and pans are compatible.

We’re using a smart lighting system in the apartment that operates through a central bridge. It looks like the bridge may have been unplugged, which would cause the light switches to stop working. Please check if the small white square device is plugged in. Once it’s plugged back in, the light switches should work normally again.

Definitely. Since our first holiday rental (St-Donaas), we provide a decorated Christmas tree in the living room. There is no need to bring one yourself.
